The inside scoop about MWD110, "Intro to Web Design"
So how's it going?... Tired,... frustrated,... or wildly elated about the creative empowerment which this course has helped you to develop? (You can be a cyber publisher!)
It's a tedious business, filled with required detail work... and a lot of creativity...
So how has it gone for you, how could it improve?
What have you learned , and what are you taking away as a result of this
experience?

There IS a great deal of cognitive memorization required for this technology, and I knew that this may be somewhat new and challenging for many of us. Thats why I try to focus your main attention to the primary topics on the lecture handout lists. Do they help?
How could they improve?
(You DO need to take your OWN notes. Would an academic skills "note taking" class help anyone? Go for it, college isn't going to change its requirements.)
The required homework reading, or independent Google research is recommended too.
The class was allright. Rick is a good instructor, and tries hard not to let stuff get boring. The note taking class would not help in my opinion, because the sheets you gave us for the lecture worked fine so long as we wrote down what you emphasized.
prepare for a pride obliterating bitchslap

Rick Mitchell is a Greek Godess
I like your class, and I think you're a great teacher, though I feel like I'm struggling, and I do stuff on my own time so I don't have much time for homework. I go out a lot at night and I don't have enough energy to study or do some homework. I am going to kick myself in the butt though, I promise you. I promise you on my success I will succeed in your class by the time this quarter ends.
Id like to stroke your mustache with my pinky finger
Rick-O-Suave...doing a great job. Love the class!

Great guy even better teacher. Just do your work and pay attention and i promise you will succeed
I pay a full ride to this school, because I am a serious student. But when I feel like a class is ineffective it concerns me greatly, because it is a waste of my sources. Your class is about Web Design, yet I spent 7 weeks on SEO copyrighting (which is important and I see that), but there is SO much more to web design that we never touched upon. We have barely touch Dreamweaver in Design II and I thought this class would reinforce the technical side of Web Design and Ritoli's class would be about the design aspect. It seems like your class is just a rant on subjects that are important, but not key to the process. Through this 10 weeks, I was hoping to have more reinforcement by you on our personal website's ITSELF yet we just keep learning about history of web and such. I wish your class was more technical and hands on. Overall you are a great professor and a person, I just feel I am not communicating with the topics of the class and what is reality of the bigger picture.

I've stated this in class several times before but.... After teaching this course for several years I came to the conclusion that the "web design's" were attractive unto themselves, but the "content" within the pages was minimal, usually poorly conceived, and poorly written. And the minimal "copy" was almost never SEO compliant. That was a big weakness on our part, and any web pro would dismiss these sites beyond their possible face value. Content is king. Satisfying your audience with value rich, and engaging SEO content is imperative, and a web fact of life. It does take a lot of time to get that content and SEO copywriting optimal. UI design focusing around that content is the best practice. Without it, you're fooling yourself, but no-one else.
Yes, there is SO much to know and learn about web design, and it will come, guaranteed. Next Q you will go into a whole new advanced level of UI design, and you WILL be prepared to maximize that next level. I understand this schedule may be going slowly for some of you, but the majority of students are quite challenged with keeping up with the schedule that is presently in place. I do promise that you will end up with an exemplary (first) web site for your portfolio.
